Hurry-Scurry
Composed on 26 June 1988
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Moving around like a hurricane
And having yourself driven insane?
Running the red light in your brand new van
And living the life of a fast food fan
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Hurry may lead you to sorrow and pain
So, think of this before changing the lane
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Haste is waste, with nothing to gain
And may cut short life in vain
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Looking at a flower in the falling rain
Or to stop, think and reflect is sane
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Enjoy the sun and the moon as much as you can
For life has a very short span
Why are you in such a hurry, O man?
Nature was slow in fashioning the brain
For haven’t we descended from the Neanderthal man?
Why, then, are you in such a hurry, O man?
You try to trick the time clock in vain
For it beats life over and over again
Why not, then slow down to enjoy the gifts of life, O man?
